I read the book "Zen and the natural solution to the common gum diseases," and I am still amazed. It is a real life changing experience that reveals a new approach of understanding, preventing and curing diseases, that without it would require surgery, losing teeth, suffer and huge cost.

In this volume, Polish Reformed academic Sebastian Smolarz demonstrates that the divine marriage metaphor is also one of the leading NT metaphors used to describe God's restored covenant relationship with his people, especially in the Book of Revelation. Smolarz argues for continuity between OT and NT concepts and theologies in general, and for continuity between the Apocalypse and OT material in particular, showing that the Apocalypse has much in common with other parts of the NT. In doing so, he focuses on some Gospel parables and reads them against their OT background. He also examines instances of the divine marriage metaphor in Paul's theological reflections. The focus of Smolarz' volume is a covenantal reading of the Apocalypse. He argues that the metaphor helps to establish the Apocalypse's Sitz im Leben, which he relates to the main conflict between the faithful and the unfaithful within the people of God in the first century CE. His work establishes that the Apocalypse contains not only explicit instances, but also implicit references and many echoes of this covenantal metaphor.

Excellent scholarly resource

This is an excellent, well-argued, important work on Revelation. Smolarz works from an early-date perspective and sees the Babylonian harlot as a metaphor for apostate Jerusalem prior to AD 70. He traces the divine marriage theme throughout Scripture, finally getting to Revelation in his last chapter.

Insightful and Important Book!

I may be charged with bias, since I have written a book on "We Shall Meet Him In The Air, the Wedding of the King of kings," in which I explore the marvelous metaphor of the Wedding motif in scripture, but, even granting my personal bias for this subject matter, this is a great book! Smolarz shares with us some excellent research and his linguistic studies so often shed light on many texts in which we might not be attuned to the marriage metaphor. His insights into the book of Revelation and the significance of the marriage metaphor there, as relating to the divorcement of "Israel" is fantastic, not to mention challenging for the modern view of Revelation. I have shared this book with several others, and they now share my appreciation for it. You need this book!

Where else can you get this much value for so little?

Carlton's writing style really is inimitable. That's one of the reasons this book is such a pleasure to read.

Few people have a large repertoire of interesting life experiences that provides the material for good stories. Fewer still have the ability to tell those stories in a way that makes you pay attention and keep flipping pages.

Carlton is one of those guys.

Now I can't say for sure, but I believe this book (Volume One) is a collection of past issues of Carlton's Marketing Rebel Rant... with the added bonus of having them organized in a more-or-less logical order.

The first half of the book deals more with life and success principles while the latter half deals more with the principles and techniques of writing good sales copy.

I'm already looking forward to Volume Two.

Best audience for this book: direct response marketers, advertisers, copywriters, street smart entrepreneurs, and eager guys just getting started. I would also recommend this book to branding advertisers because it would do them a lot of good to read it -- but I somehow doubt they'd jibe with the lessons.

I've been reading and learning from John Carlton's books and blogs for nearly a decade, so it's very exciting to see his work available here on Amazon. If you're tired of sifting through the seemingly peak-less mountain of sales books that regurge the same basic principle over and over, then prepare to have your core shaken and your brain stirred.

Carlton is the straight shooting old school sales wizard who pioneered the art of selling online. Not by creating tech happy sales pages and "hypnotic" sales videos, but by applying the proven psychology of never-fail salesmanship to the new medium in a way that is bold and seamless.

If you have a desire to "sell without selling" this is not the book for you. Carlton would tell you there is no such thing. However if you have a product that you know is the best solution for your prospect and want to be sure they don't leave your page without feeling the impact of your message, then you should not write one more ad without first reading this book.

John J. Ruszkiewicz is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin where he has taught literature, rhetoric, and writing for more than thirty-five years. A winner of the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Award, he was instrumental in creating the Department of Rhetoric and Writing in 1993 and directed the unit from 2001-05. He has also served as president of the Conference of College Teachers of English (CCTE) of Texas, which gave him its Frances Hern�ndez Teacher—Scholar Award in 2012. Meanwhile Hank Busche, the unwanted pastor of the little Ashton Community Church discovers that there are many demons in the town and wonders why they have all congregated here. When he gets to be a nuisance to the demons they have the Society falsely arrest him for rape During the time that this is happening, the story takes on a spiritual dimension - revealing a perspective based on the idea of unseen forces at work. The angels who wage warfare for the souls of mankind look and act similar to humans, and they are propelled by heavenly forces that often manifest as wings. They wear armor and wield weapons forged in heaven - most notably, swords. Demons, as well, are depicted as being ink-like shadows in the darkness, flowing from shadow to shadow, until the time comes when they truly reveal themselves as monstrous beasts with bat-wings and armor.
