Die Biographie eines Menschen kennenzulernen, erm�glicht oft ein besseres Verst�ndnis seiner �u�erungen und Handlungen, Bed�rfnisse und Gef�hle. Dadurch ergeben sich Ansatzpunkte f�r eine positive Einflussnahme sowie zur F�rderung des Wohlbefindens.

Auch im Bereich der Altenhilfe gewinnt die Biografiearbeit immer mehr an Stellenwert. Durch Kenntnisse der Biografie k�nnen Verhaltensweisen und �u�erungen von demenzkranken Menschen besser gedeutet und interpretiert werden. Andererseits stellt f�r Menschen mit Demenz die Erinnerung an ihre Vergangenheit eine wichtige Ressource dar, weil das Kurzzeitged�chtnis eingeschr�nkt ist und das Langzeitged�chtnis, in dem sehr gut memorierte und meist lange zur�ck liegende Informationen gespeichert sind h�ufig noch relativ lange intakt bleibt. Menschen mit Demenz suchen h�ufig nach Identit�t und Vertrautheit, die ihnen Sicherheit geben, in einer Welt, die ihnen aufgrund der nachlassenden Erinnerungsf�higkeit immer fremder erscheint. Erinnerungen, die auf das Langzeitged�chtnis zur�ckgreifen, geben ihnen Halt und schafft somit Vertrautheit.

Biografiearbeit dient weiterhin dazu, das gelebte Leben eines alten Menschen mit in positiver Weise zu ber�cksichtigen. Insofern kann die Biografiearbeit einen Beitrag zur Lebensqualit�t im Pflege- und Betreuungsprozess leisten, da sie zur individuellen Betreuung, sinnvollen Tagesgestaltung und Aktivierung von Ressourcen beitr�gt.

About the Author
Matthew Morris has worked with the Oracle database since 1996 when he worked in the RDBMS support team for Oracle Support Services. Employed by Oracle for over eleven years in support and development positions, Matthew was an early adopter of the Oracle Certified Professional program. He was one of the first one hundred Oracle Certified Database Administrators (version 7.3) and was also in the first hundred to become an Oracle Certified Forms Developer. In the years since, he has upgraded his Database Administrator certification for releases 8i, 9i, 10G and 11G, added the Application Express and the Oracle SQL Expert certifications and is an Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional. Outside of Oracle, he has CompTIA certifications in Linux+ and Security+. Matthew is an experienced Database Administrator and PL/SQL developer and has been creating Web applications with Oracle Application Express since the early days of its release. He is currently employed as a Database Engineer with Computer Sciences Corporation developing enterprise applications.

Good book for identifying the scope of the exam.

This book was very handy in drawing the boundaries/scope of the exam. Of cause it didn't go into much details on the topics, and as stated by the author, it does not teach you the language. But it filled a much needed void that the exam had, a study guide.

PL/SQL has a very large scope as a programming language and even if you take the exam topics, the oracle documentation as well as the most popular text books on the language provide very comprehensive information on them. It was really difficult to come to terms on how much was covered in the exam.

It would have been ideal if the book contained more examples and some exercises. But even without them, the book is very useful.

Excellent supplemental to studying

I credit passing 1z0-144 in large part to this book. It provides an excellent outline to all the topics covered in the test, which helped me determine where I needed more studying. Though no substitute for reading the Oracle docs, for hands-on practice, etc., it is ideal for that last push before taking the test.

Great old world witch hunt

Eben Hollow has a great old-world horror feel to it, with its quaint village set next to a gnarled forest of dread, inhabited by a mythical goat-man who preys on those who stray from the path. There is also a nasty witch who is intent on extending her rule. Meanwhile the townfolk must make a living and raise their families. The town hero is The Elkmaster, who has pit himself as a holy soldier against the evil denizens of the forest.

The atmosphere is great here, and there is the everpresent suspense of the devil always lurking close at hand. The grisly methods of the witch and her henchman are fairly graphic, but the table is set in a battle of good vs evil. So far, evil has the upper hand. Can the Elkmaster and the good people of Eben Hollow prevail? The characters are very enjoyable, and everything is perfect, down to the speech of the characters. A fun read, for sure, and I wished it were longer.

Bravo. A very powerful and entertaining depiction of the "age old" theme of conflicting Good and Evil. The characters are complex and interact in a very interesting manner. Each character has a signifigant philosophy and energy that contributes to the overall story line and eventual outcome. The authors have successfully interwoven vivid background with energetic, sardonic and anectotal characters to reveal an interesting fabric with substance and encouragement for every real life challenge. This is a "must read". You will not be able to put this book down once you enter "The Village of Eben Hollow".

Excellent for people with rusty math skills

A really useful guide, if, like me, you have not done math for a while. Covers useful material in a good level of depth. Also an excellent source of practice questions. In my opinion, a great deal better than the Princeton Math Workout, which spent too much time on ways to "crack" the test rather than actually teaching you how to do the math. The Kaplan Guide is much more focussed on the latter.

Satisfactory, but nothing earth-shattering

This was an alright book. I found its best use was as a source for additional math problems. If you're trying to really nail the GMAT, this is a good book in that you will encounter a variety of different math questions. You gain some experience, and that is good. But on the other hand, I feel like Kaplan did a bit of a lazy job putting this book together. First off, 99% of the questions are incredibly easy. Secondly, I found several typos and this should just not happen unless the writers are being lazy. Third, it does not do a good job of explaining answers. If this is a thorough review, it should provide at least two ways to solve the more difficult questions - ie plugging in numbers and algebra, not just one. But considering there is only one other book out there, this is the best you can get. Unfortunately, with the exception of the Princeton Review, a lot of those other companies are just plain trash.

It was a good idea to produce a book exclusively for maths, but for people who did not graduate from a technical university, it is difficult to learn maths from one book in just one month! You need the background and the exercise!
