This is based on a true story of how several years ago, I took a decision not to go ahead with a planned marriage. I had prayed for God's peace concerning my decision for a year. There were times when I felt so alone and misunderstood, craving love and acceptance. This story tells of my journey through pain and guilt, as well as moments of despair to a place of eternal peace and joy in the Lord, to a place where I am confident in the love and grace of God, which is all I need to be all that God desires me to be!

My son is like Auggie and this book is incredible.

My 5th grader has craniofacial anomalies and I feel that this book could not have been better written. RJ Palacio caught Auggie's voice so well and captured his challenges and strengths so beautifully that I still can't believe that she doesn't have a child who is living this life. I'm not going to try to summarize the story as many other reviewers have done that - I just want to talk about the emotional resonance of the work.

The sheer truth of Auggie's journey is what meant the most to me. There are so many small moments that struck me to the core - e.g. Auggie's feelings about Halloween, the way Auggie has an easier time when his classmates understand that there's more to him than his face, Auggie's struggle to move past his need for coddling, even the food that Auggie eats. The most emotional moment for me came toward the end of the book when Auggie's father tells him that he loves the way Auggie looks, because that it exactly how my husband and I feel about our son.

I wish that everyone would read this book, because it will help them understand the humanity of my son and everyone like him.

It takes a lot of skill to weave the voices of eight narrators into one compelling story, and Palacio does it so well. WONDER is a tremendous debut, a novel that coaxes out grins even as it wrings out tears. I really loved this one, and I pushed it into my middle grade son's hands as soon as I finished.

Auggie is a fifth grader. His face is so badly deformed, he spends much of his preschool years hiding under a toy astronaut helmet. When he starts attending school for the first time, he makes enemies and friends, enduring the worst kind of taunts and enjoying the best kinds of friendships.

WONDER is Auggie's story, but it's also ours. WONDER captures the dual nature of childhood, both how cruel and how tender we can be with one another. It's about the wounds we inflict and the scars we carry, all the things that teach us to do things differently the next time.

WONDER is the kind of story made for curling up and sharing, for talking and connecting. WONDER is worth talking about.

I am reading this out loud to my 9 year old whose taste in reading matter is beyond her reading ability. I also grew up with a brother with a disability. I disagree with the reviewer who said it detracted from the story that there were many narrators. In particular I found when I got to Via's chapters, and her description of the ambiguity of her feelings, how she sometimes felt overlooked, and the relief of going away to be with her grandma, I had a hard time keeping reading, and was choking back the tears. I never understood about why I had this particularly close relationship with my grandma, or that some of these ambiguous feelings could be common to siblings of children who are different. Like Via I love my brother, and was always fiercely defensive of him, and like her I struggled with my human weaknesses around him.

However, despite the current technological interest, there is no compre� hensive textbook that deals with all aspects of indium mineralization and economics. The present study attempts to develop a general metallogenic concept for indium in identifying the essential enrichment processes and their economic significance. The study 'Indium Geology, Mineralogy, and Economics' was commissioned and funded by the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Re� sources (BGR Hannover) and is a contribution to the research program 'BGR 2000 - Raw Materials with Short Lifetime Reserves'. This program focuses on raw materials with known reserves confined to the next 20-25 years at static de� mand. The future availability of reserves is usually estimated by dividing the known reserves by the current annual consumption. In fact, lifetimes of reserves are inappropriate measures because they depend on many parameters and there� fore represent a "snapshot" of a dynamic system. In order to provide a sustainable use of raw materials with short lifetime reserves, a significantly higher amount of innovation is needed compared to raw materials with long lifetime reserves.

Despite the current technological interest, there is no comprehensive textbook which deals with all aspects of indium mineralization and economics. This book reviews the geological, mineralogical, geochemical and petrological characteristics of indium-bearing ore deposits and develops a general metallogenic concept for indium in identifying the essential enrichment processes and their economic significance.

This book would be helpful for any project in inorganic chemistry. Indium has many medicinal and industrial/petro-chemical utilizations. For instance, it is used in the manufacture of control rods. It was discovered spectroscopically in the mid 1860s by Heronymus Richter .
It melts at 157 C and boils at 2080 C with an atomic wt of
114.82. It is rarely , if ever, found in free form. Typically,
Indium is bound to sulfur according to In S3. It may be bound to
zinc (zn) blendes, tungsten, tin and iron ores. It may be utilized in conjunction with bearing alloys, semi-conductors and
medicinally. Specifically, Indium helps the body absorb and use
more of the other trace minerals . It is known that the levels
of copper and manganese in the kidneys are in direct proportion to the level of Indium. Generally, Indium exists in small amounts. It is insoluble and virtually non-existent in the food
chain. To be of use as a nutrient, Indium must be bound to a
sulfate to be water-soluble. Indium is being investigated for
its positive role in reducing cancerous tumors. Its positive effects are also seen in pain management, inflammatory disease
management & diabetes. Dietary supplementation is found in the
Indium-sulfate liquid drop method of ingestion. This book would be perfect for a class project in chemistry at virtually every
level in academe. The book has applications throughout industry,
academe and medicine. The subject matter of the research contained in this
work would require a considerable effort of time and expense to replicate. For this reason, the work has a unique value to a wide
constituency of people in the scientific community.

Indium - a solid reference work

This review is of a recently purchased new hard-cover version of Indium, by Schwarz-Schampera and Herzig. The book is a good reference work on Indium history, chemistry, geochemistry, metallogeny and occurrence and uses, through the publication date of 2002. It will be useful to geologists researching Indium and related ores, as well as resource experts looking for occurrence and abundance information. It lists many examples of indium occurrences and actual ore bodies with descriptions of the mineral assemblages, elemental ratios, alteration assemblages, gangue mineral associations as well as general geological settings.
There are very few typographical errors in the book, which is remarkable given the extensive use of technical and non-native English language terminology - the authors are to be commended for a fine compilation and distillation effort of much rather obscure information.
My one complaint is that the copy I received, although stating it is printed in Germany on several pages, also states that it is printed in the USA on the last page. It is a facsimile copy. The binding is very sturdy and well-done. The text is generally clean and sharp. However, several of the maps and other images, including the cover boards, are of low quality and nearly un-readable, apparently the result of a low-resolution scanning process. It is a pity the printer made this senseless decision.
At $160 USD, the book, in this printing version, is a poor value. I will keep my copy because I am actively using it in the pursuit of indium exploration projects. I would not recommend it to others at this price. Had I known it was a facsimile copy, I would not have purchased it.

About the Author
As well as forging a successful political career, President MICHAEL D. HIGGINS is also an author, poet, and broadcaster. He presented a television film on Montserrat, The Other Emerald Isle, and a documentary on the life of Dr. Noel Browne for RT�, Dr Browne Also Spoke. He has had four volumes of poetry published, most recently New and Selected Poems (Liberties Press), and has been included in a number of anthologies. He is the author of several books, has contributed chapters to over twenty publications, and was a columnist for Hot Press from 1982 until 1993. Higgins has campaigned for human rights and written about conflict in many parts of the world. He became the first recipient of the Se�n MacBride Peace Prize of the International Peace Bureau in Helsinki in 1992, and has twice been mayor of Galway.
